What Is “chiduru Time”? — A Promise That Continues Beyond the Shop

A moment of chiduru Time

There is one promise we hope to share with the people who become part of chiduru.

We don’t want our relationship with our customers to end at the door of the shop.

At chiduru, there are small things we do outside the shop as well.

One of them is TAXO, our own small transportation service for customers.

Another is something we call our “Adult Outings” — little trips around Kagoshima with customers we already know well.

Sometimes we enjoy the scenery of Kagoshima and Kirishima together.

Sometimes we go somewhere and enjoy something good to eat.

They aren’t grand occasions.

They are simply ordinary moments spent together.

And if we can share a few more of those ordinary moments with someone,

I think that is something rather special.

For readers unfamiliar with Japanese nightlife culture, I should probably explain one thing.

In Japan, spending time with customers outside a nightlife establishment can sometimes be associated with dohan — going to dinner or spending time together before entering the bar.

That isn’t what we mean by “chiduru Time.”

And it isn’t a date.

What matters to us is much simpler.

Staying close to the people we have come to know, and allowing that connection to grow slowly over time.

“I’m glad we could see each other again.”

We hope we can still say something like that to each other many years from now.

And perhaps, along the way, we can make a few memories together outside the shop as well.

For us, hospitality doesn’t necessarily begin when someone sits down at the counter.

And it doesn’t necessarily end when they leave.

We want people to be able to come to chiduru with peace of mind.

And when the evening is over, we want them to get home safely too.

The time in between,

and sometimes the time beyond it,

is all part of something that is very important to us.

We call it:

“chiduru Time.”

Perhaps someday, when someone looks back on their life,

chiduru might quietly appear in one small corner of their memories.

A song we sang together.

A conversation.

A drive home.

A little trip somewhere in Kirishima.

Something good we ate together.

Or simply the memory of saying,

“See you again.”

We don’t need chiduru to become an important part of someone’s life.

That would be asking too much. 😅

But if we can quietly stay beside one small part of it,

I think that would make us very happy.

There is one important thing I should add.

The “chiduru Time” that continues outside the shop isn’t something we offer automatically to everyone who visits us.

It is something that has grown naturally from the relationships we have built over time, particularly with customers who use GOLD120.

It isn’t about creating a special relationship for business.

It is about taking care of a relationship that already exists.

Slowly.

Naturally.

And for as long as that connection continues.

So perhaps our promise is really quite simple.

To value the people who value us.

To take care of the connections we have been fortunate enough to make.

And, little by little,

to continue making memories together.

Inside the shop.

Outside the shop.

Until you are safely home.

All of it is “chiduru Time.”

And if, many years from now, someone can say,

“I’m glad we met,”

then perhaps we will have kept our promise. 😊
